Statement

I work in oil on canvas producing both large and small scale paintings from my studio at
Woodend in Scarborough. Within my paintings I refers to the figure, placing it within a
semi-abstract composition. My love of pattern and colour is the starting point from which
I build up a series of layers, working from both sketches and from photo montages.
My intention is not to copy reality, but to create a window of illusion through which the
viewer can escape for a few moments.
